Thomas Henry Huxley
teaching

Following in the footsteps of my distinguished predecessor, Thomas Henry Huxley, I teach Zoology at Imperial College London. For first year students, I teach four lectures on Developmental Biology in the 'Cells and Development' module. For third year students, I convene and teach a course of 30-odd lectures entitled 'The Development and Evolution of Animal Form' which concern the new and exciting field of Evolutionary Developmental Biology or 'evo-devo'. This course also contains a much about human genetics, pathology and development. Finally, each year, I take a few select students in my laboratory for third-year honour's projects. These projects generally concern some aspect of nematode growth and ageing genetics. Of the 11 students that I have had, 10 have been awarded firsts for their projects.
